How We Support Arlington Businesses
Arlington is inside the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area our Leesburg team visits in person. Most support is remote, and someone comes onsite for an office setup, a move or a device that needs hands.
The service is the same everywhere: a fixed monthly cost for managed IT, endpoint protection, Microsoft 365 and email security, backups with tested restores, and monitoring with a person who answers. The pages below explain each part.
Arlington County, Pentagon and Crystal City
What Do Arlington Contractors and Offices Need From IT?
Arlington is a county, home to the Pentagon and to DARPA's headquarters, with its offices concentrated in Crystal City, Rosslyn and Ballston. Its defense economy is contracting offices and program managers, so the businesses around them skew to consultancies, small research performers, law firms, associations and nonprofits, mostly working from suites in multi tenant office buildings.
In a leased suite the building network is often not yours to control, and staff move between the office, home and client sites. Security has to travel with the person and the laptop: multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response, Microsoft 365 and email security, and monitoring that does not depend on the office firewall. For contractors whose information is technical data and reports under a DFARS clause, our Compliance Division, Capital Cyber Compliance, delivers the CMMC work. We claim no relationship with any agency named here.
Virginia Law
What Virginia Requires After a Breach, and Why It Matters in Arlington
Va. Code § 18.2-186.6. Notice to affected people: without unreasonable delay.
Virginia's breach notification law is Va. Code § 18.2-186.6. When a business finds that personal information of Virginia residents was accessed or acquired by an unauthorized person, it must give notice without unreasonable delay. The statute sets no fixed number of days.
The notice goes to the Office of the Attorney General and to each affected resident. When more than 1,000 people are notified at one time, the business must also notify the nationwide consumer reporting agencies.
Virginia also has the Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code § 59.1-575 and following. It applies to businesses that control or process the personal data of at least 100,000 Virginia consumers in a year, or at least 25,000 consumers while earning over 50 percent of gross revenue from selling personal data. Data used in the context of an employee or contractor role is exempt. Most small businesses fall under these thresholds, which is worth confirming rather than assuming.
