Backup and Ransomware Recovery
Backups You Have Tested, Before the Day You Need Them.
A backup nobody has restored is a hope, not a plan. We back up the data the business runs on, keep a copy off-site and encrypted, and prove it restores.
For businesses that cannot write an estimate, file a return or see a patient without their data.
What Gets Backed Up, and Where?
The important digital assets your business depends on: servers, key workstations, cloud mailboxes and shared files. Backups are encrypted and stored off-site, with daily backups and restore options, so a fire, a failed disk or ransomware on the office network does not take the copy with it.
How Do You Know the Backups Work?
We test them. Restores are tested and recovery procedures validated, so the first restore of a file is not during an emergency. Backup health is part of daily monitoring: a failed or stalled job is a ticket, not a surprise.
What Happens if Ransomware Gets In?
Ransomware protection is layered in front of the backups: endpoint detection and response, application allow-listing, patching and staff training make an infection less likely to start or spread. If it happens anyway, the incident response plan tells everyone what to do, we contain it, and we restore from a clean copy.
Our founder lived through a ransomware attack before starting Capital Cyber. That is why this part of the service is not an add-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
4 QUESTIONSWe already back up to an external drive. Is that enough?
Usually not. A drive that stays plugged into the network can be encrypted by ransomware along with everything else, and few are ever test restored. An off-site, encrypted copy that is tested is the standard to aim for.
How often are backups taken?
Daily as a baseline, and more often for systems that change constantly. We scope it around how much work you can afford to lose.
Do backups help with cyber insurance?
Insurers commonly ask about backups and recovery. We verify the controls insurers ask for and prepare the documentation as part of cyber insurance readiness.
Do you back up Microsoft 365?
Yes. Cloud mailboxes and files are part of the backup plan, because a deleted or encrypted mailbox is as much a loss as a server.
